Augmented Reality, sometimes called AR, is a technology that blends computer generated images with the real world. Now you can explore the Seacoast Science Center and discover these hidden creatures while learning some interesting facts about our New Hampshire sea life.

Are you afraid of sharks? Nothing to worry about here. The only shark you'll encounter here at the Seacoast Science Center is the harmless Chain Catshark. Although rarely seen by humans, it is one of the native sharks found off the coast of New Hampshire. If you're looking for something a little more fearsome, check out the augmented reality Great White shark by tapping the AR button.

One of the most popular creatures in the touch tank is the Hermit crab. As a species, Hermit crabs range in size from a few millimeters to nearly the size of a coconut, but with the magic of augmented reality, you can take your picture with ones much larger!

What do whales, dolphins, seals, and you all have in common? That's right, you're all mammals. Some mammals belong on the beach, others don't. So when a porpoise beaches itself on a New Hampshire beach, the Marine Mammal Rescue Team from the Seacoast Science Center is there to assist. The Center's Marine Mammal Rescue Team responds to stranded, injured and diseased seals, whales, porpoises, and dolphins in NH's coastal region. It's an important job and we need your help.
